Sea Change

The collection of works on Sea Change speaks of a marked change, in practice and in sound, of new music being written today.

"This disc presents a fascinating cross-cut of the new music/post-classical contemporary sound at the beginning of the 21st century. These works point to the potential emergence of a new aesthetic: a post-post modernism, or perhaps neo-modernism. Long gone (or absorbed) are arguments of consonance/dissonance, extended techniques or complexity, high vs. low art, irony or quotation. The composers here present us with new questions, new arguments, only now being formulated." - Peter Hatch

Continuum 1

From the haunting lyricism of Jocelyn Morlock's Bird in the Tangled Sky to the intimacy of Wendy Prezament's Fantasy for Piano, there is something elemental about all of the pieces. The expansive, synthesized sounds contrasting with the detailed figuration in Ron Smith's Flux; the driving rhythms of Micheline Roi's Of Breath and Touch; and the high-density Incidents in Transition by Chris Paul Harman, fuse in this varied but complementary collection.

Featured composers:

Jocelyn Morlock
Wendy Prezament
Ronald Bruce Smith
Micheline Roi
Chris Paul Harman
