Code Thumbnails 1

Code Thumbnails 1 is the first piece of a project that has a series of five separate pieces based on hexadecimal colour codes and five typographic systems. This first piece features eight different colours and Axial System.    

Hiroki Tsurumoto (born in Kyoto, Japan) received his bachelor's degree in Economics at Chuo University in Tokyo.  In 2002 he moved to New York City to study composition with Amnon Wolman and Tania Leon at the City University of New York.   He has recently completed his Master's degree at the University of Toronto where he studied composition with Ka Nin Chan and James Rolfe.  He also had consultations with Richard Ayres, Bernhard Lang, Michael Oesterle, Rebecca Saunders, and Linda Catlin Smith.  His music has been performed in festivals, workshops and reading sessions in the U.S., Japan, Europe, and Canada by ensembles including Aventa Ensemble (Victoria), Brooklyn Conservatory Orchestra (New York), Canticum Ostrava (Czech Republic), Ensemble contemporain de Montréal+ (Montreal), Fluterra (Toronto), Ives Ensemble (Amsterdam), Link Ensemble (New York and Tokyo), and Tiresias (Vancouver).
